The pursuit of food technology was a career aspiration that began in my teens. This led to University education, which began at University of Newcastle and was completed at University of Western Sydney.
After completing first class honours and commencing a PhD at Hawkesbury, my natural progression was toward research and teaching.
With original scientific research publications on bioavailability and gut health published, my interest in delivering safe, nutritious and palatable food to the consumer did not diminish.
I have since applied my skills as a food technologist in a diverse range of scientific and manufacturing roles, with a focus on meeting requirements for quality and safety.
At all times, I have focused on assisting each business to achieve its goals whilst achieving targets for customer satisfaction. I have done this by applying best practice to quality, safety and regulatory goals.
My core proficiencies are in management and support of processes relating to food safety and quality. These parameters extend to include regulatory requirements, auditing, audit preparation, training, change control, product development, ingredients, standards, storage, processing, packaging - and utilising smart technology, to make worklife easier.
I've been a member of Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology for more than twenty years, Australian Food Engineering Association member and mentor with Royal Australian Chemical Institute for the past three years.
I have achieved Exemplar Global National Food Safety Auditor Level 4 certification and am currently updating training TAE40116 certification.
